Beulah

The Beulah High School girls basketball team (5-8) won its second game in as many days on Tuesday. The Lady Bobcats routed Class 3A, Area 6 opponent B.B. Comer, 45-24.

Kensley Taylor had a team-high 17 points, and KK Miller had 10.  Beulah improved to 3-1 in area play with the victory.

The Beulah boys (6-7) also secured a win, holding off B.B. Comer, 66-62. The Bobcats improved to 2-2 in the area.

Both teams will return to action on Thursday when they host Randolph County.

Lanett

Emanuel Littles scored 29 points, Anquaevious Pollard chipped in 14, and the Lanett High School boys basketball team (12-5) routed Class 2A, Area 8 opponent Reeltown on Tuesday, 75-39.

The Panthers, ranked fourth in 2A, led by 31 at halftime, 46-15, en route to their dominant road triumph. They are now 4-1 in the area.

The Lanett girls (9-4) also knocked off Reeltown, 47-31. Octavia Wright had a team-high 12 points, while Ambria Jackson and Makyia Broughton added 11 apiece.

The Lady Panthers improved to 5-0 in the area.

The Lanett girls and boys will wrap up area play at home tonight against Horseshoe Bend.

Valley

The Valley High School girls and boys basketball teams did not play last night at Russell County. The games were canceled.

Both squads will return to action at Beulah on Friday.

AISA

The Chambers Academy boys basketball team (3-13) will put its season on the line today in the opening round of the AISA Class A Region 1 Tournament, which will be held at Macon East Academy in Cecil.

The Rebels will play Sparta Academy. A win clinches their spot in next week’s state tournament. A loss ends their season.

The Chambers Academy girls, along with the Springwood School girls and boys, will begin region tournament play later this week.
