LaGRANGE, Ga. — Mr. Darryl Lynn “Big D” Johnson, 56, of LaGrange, Ga. passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born to the late Maureen Johnson and Albert Gilliam, Sr. on December 22, 1961 in Chambers County, Ala.

Darryl was a faithful member of the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, until his health began to fail. He was a product of the West Point Public School System, where he was a member of the 1980 graduating class.

Mr. Johnson was employed by Interface Flooring for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by an uncle, William C. Johnson.

Darryl’s memories will forever be engraved in the hearts of his loved ones: his wife, Tersia Johnson, LaGrange; a son that he raised as his own, Joe Avery, LaGrange; his beloved and faithful sisters, Joanie Marshall (Desadier Reese, grandson), LaGrange, Anita Spencer (Larry), Whitesville, Ga., Karen Thompson (Wayne), Conyers, Ga.,  Phyllis Cox (Willie),  Ellenwood, Ga.; one brother, Sylvester Dunn, Jr., Ellenwood, Ga.; aunts, Sylvia Ann Gates, LaGrange; Ida Mae Boswell, Atlanta, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson were held at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, with the Rev. Charles Trammell, pastor, serving as the eulogist. Interment followed in the St. John Cemetery.
