A community-wide pep rally celebrating the Lanett High School football team’s 2017 undefeated state championship season will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Lanett High Gymnasium.

Panthers head coach Clifford Story said that Lanett Mayor Kyle McCoy will join him and a few of his senior players in speaking about the historic campaign.

A highlight video of the season also will be shown in what is expected to be a one-to-two hour rally.

Refreshments will be provided afterward.

Story said the original plan was to hold a parade in the team’s honor, but weather concerns led to the change of plans.

Story said he encourages all members of the local community to attend the event, as he seeks to recognize his players’ accomplishments.
