Six local hoops players picked for all-star game

GREATER VALLEY AREA — Six local high school basketball players have been selected to represent their state at the annual Georgia-Alabama All-Star Game on Friday, March 16, in Columbus.
Lanett High School seniors Emanuel Littles, Anquaevious Pollard and Ty Truitt are joined by Valley seniors Keionte Dent and Kevonte’ Cooper on the Alabama boys squad.
Valley senior Kenjadae Dunn is a member of the Alabama girls squad.
The event, which will be held at the Columbus Civic Center, features underclassmen and senior games for both genders.
Players selected hail from high schools within an approximately 50-mile radius of Columbus, on either side of the state border.
According to Herman Porter, one of the game’s organizers, there also will be a slam dunk contest and 3-point shootout. Porter said this is the first year the event will take place at the civic center.
Previously, it was held at Carver High School in Columbus.
The senior girls game will tip off at 7:15 p.m. EST, followed by the boys at 8:30.
