GREATER VALLEY AREA — The Valley High School soccer team dropped to 0-10 on the season after losing three games last weekend at Opelika’s Dawg Pound Tournament.
Since then, the Rams have been recharging their batteries. They will host Eufala on Tuesday at 6 p.m. EST in their area opener.
“We’re spending all week game planning,” head coach Cullen Milner said.
Valley faced Eufala in a tournament two weeks ago and fell, 10-0. But Milner did not deploy his top lineup in the loss.
He said he wanted to keep his talent concealed in hopes of surprising his opponent in their first area meeting. The tournament matchup had no bearing on area standings.
“I think it will be a very different outcome,” Milner said of the upcoming game at Rams Stadium. “It’s going to take a solid effort from our defense.”
Recently, the Rams made a goalkeeper change that Milner hopes will pay dividends. Cedric Smith is the new man in net and will start against Eufaula.
The Springwood School varsity boys soccer team, meanwhile, lost its first game of the season last week. The Wildcats (2-1) fell on March 1 at Macon East Academy, 2-0.
They will return to action on Saturday at Emmanuel Christian in Dothan before hosting Glenwood on Tuesday at 6 p.m. EST.
