Panthers compete at MCSD Meet

COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Lanett High School track and field team traveled to Columbus on Tuesday to compete in the MCSD Meet.
The Panthers placed fifth in the boys division and seventh in the girls division. Seven teams participated.
Zameron Boozer and D’terrion Glaze both recorded first-place finishes in their top events. Boozer won the high jump with a clearance of 6 feet, and Glaze won the shot put with a heave of 42 feet, 5 inches.
Boozer’s mark tied his personal best, while Glaze’s throw established a new personal best.
A multitude of other Panthers also performed well.
Eric Darden placed second in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 40-5.75. Braylon Harrington, on the other hand, took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61 seconds.
JaWon Howell secured top five finishes in his premier events. He placed third in the 400 meters and fifth in the 200 meters. He crossed the line in 54.27 seconds and 23.38 seconds, respectively.
Demetrius Johnson finished sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.
Trinity Guice, meanwhile, led the Lanett girls.
The seventh-grader placed second in the 1,600 meters and sixth in the 800 meters. She clocked respective times of 6:20 and 3:01.
In the field, R’Tianna Oneal took third in the shot put with a distance of 32 feet. Makyia Broughton finished fourth in the high jump by clearing 4-8.
Back on the track, Ameria Zeigler-Truitt notched a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. She recorded a time of 56.29 seconds.
Jaci Howell placed sixth in the 100 meters in 13.27 seconds. Jakira Burton took sixth in the 200 meters in 27.12 seconds.
The Lanett track and field team will return to action this weekend at the Smiths Station Panther Invitational.
