Valley High School golfers Trevor Harry and Dallas Duncan led their respective teams on Monday at a pair of tournaments.
Harry, a senior, carded the Rams’ low round at the Aggie Invitational in Sylacauga.
He posted an 18-hole score of 9-over-par 81 at Sylacauga Country Club, where the sectional tournament will be held in two weeks.
Harry was the only Valley boys golfer to break 100 at the tournament. Bradley Nelson (104), Matthew Allen (106), Nicolas Fulcher (109) and Judson Garner (112) all finished above that mark.
Rams head coach Mike Power said he will need at least two more golfers to dip under 100 for his team to have a shot of advancing past sectionals.
Duncan, a senior, recorded the Lady Rams’ low round at the Battle of the Borders Tournament in Columbus, Ga. She posted an 18-hole score of 120 at Maple Ridge Golf Course.
The Valley girls competed on Team Alabama with golfers from Mountain Brook, Auburn, Central-Phenix City, Oak Mountain and Hoover.
Together, they took down Team Georgia, which consisted of high schools from the Peach state, 487-499.
Malorie Bolt, Isabel Boddie and Sage Jackson joined Duncan on the course. Bolt shot a 137, Boddie a 141 and Jackson a 142. Power said the tournament provided his team a great opportunity to compete with and against a collection of elite programs.
The Rams and Lady Rams will return to the links on Thursday when they host Troup County for a match at the Point University Golf Club.
