LANETT — The Valley High School boys golf team beat Beauregard by only one stroke in the schools’ first match of the season earlier this month. 

Thursday’s contest wasn’t nearly as close.

The Rams bested Beauregard, 187-199, at the Point University Golf Course.

Trevor Harry carded the low round for Valley. The senior posted a nine-hole score of 6-over-par 42. Matthew Allen  (47), Bradley Nelson (48) and Nicholas Fulcher (50) also contributed to the team score.

The Rams will aim to continue their consistent play on Monday at the Aggie Invitational in Sylacauga. The event will be held at the Sylacauga Country Club, site of the April 30 sectional tournament.

Monday’s competition will provide Valley a prime chance to preview the course.

The Lady Rams golf team also will be in action on Monday. It will travel to Columbus to play in the inaugural Battle of the Borders Tournament at Maple Ridge Golf Course.
