The demolition of River View Gym is well under way.

The roof has been removed and much progress has been made in taking down the back wall.

The gym was built in the mid 1930s and has not been used in a long time.

The building was getting in bad shape structurally and was becoming an increasing liability for the city to be sitting there unused.

The gym has special memories for anyone who grew up in River View.

There have been discussions of preserving the front steps, which was a favorite hangout place for youth in days gone by.
