Mrs. Carolyn Ryner

WEST POINT — Carolyn B. Ryner, 86-year-old resident of West Point, Ga., passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Ryner was born October 10, 1931, in West Point, the daughter of the late Norman E. and Annie Laurie Varner Becker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Point and a charter member of the New Beginnings Sunday School Class. Mrs. Ryner is described by her family as “Unbreakable”, “A Confidant” and a “Beautiful Southern Lady.”
She loved going on cruises, playing bridge, walking with her friends, watching “her birds” from the porch and cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. Mrs. Ryner attended Brenau College, Auburn University and the University of Georgia. She retired from WestPoint Stevens and during her retirement worked as the church secretary at First Presbyterian Church in West Point.
Survivors include her daughters, Lyn (David) Kelly of West Point and Kelly Burton of Valley; her son, J. B. (Susie) Ryner of West Point; her grandchildren, Derrick (Courtney) Ryner, Haley Ryner, Laurie Lyn Burton, Mitchell Burton and Jenny McMillen; her great grandchildren, Aubrie Ryner, Colton Greathouse, Harper Ryner and Cullen Ryner; and her sister, Annette May of Greensboro, N.C. Other than her parents, Mrs. Ryner was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Becker.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, July 25, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m. EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT at First United Methodist Church of West Point. The Rev. Gerald Ledbetter will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice.
