LaFAYETTE  — Mrs. Betty Jones, 87, of LaFayette, Ala. died Monday September 17, 2018 at her residence.  Betty was born in Chambers County, Ala. on December 23, 1930 to the late Jackson Jordan Sanders and the late Edith Frances Burton Sanders.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in LaFayette and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. She had retired from Playtex and later from the Russell Corp., both in LaFayette.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. CDT at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow at the LaFayette City Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Ferguson and the Rev. Mark McGee officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Leroy Jones of LaFayette; three children, Brenda Harrelson of Auburn, Ala., Susan (Jerry) Crowder of Lanett, Ala., and Jeffrey Jones of LaFayette; three grandchildren, Grant Fetner of Auburn, Alyson (Matt) Sims of Gold Hill, Ala. and Lindsey (Ron) Sellers of Beauregard, Ala. and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Hugh Cooksey, sister Neita Kirkland, and son in law Jerry Harrelson.
