AUBURN — Two women from the Valley area are reportedly deceased after a car accident in Auburn early Monday morning.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris announced that Tiffany Brianne Longshore, 20, of Lanett and Courtney Taylor Thomas, 24, of Valley were involved in the accident at approximately 3:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Moores Mill Road in Auburn.
It was reported that the two were killed instantly when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, bursting into flames.
The report states that the accident happened after the driver, Longshore, apparently lost control of the vehicle while driving at high speeds. When Auburn Police, Auburn Fire and EAMC EMS responded to the accident, the flames were extinguished and bodies were located by authorities.
Both victims were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Montgomery at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a postmortem examination. According to the report, Moores Mill Road was closed to traffic for approximately three hours while the accident was under investigation and the scene cleared.
No other vehicles or injuries were involved in the accident and an investigation remains underway by the Lee County Coroner and Auburn Police.
