TCSO looking for suspect in home invasion, shooting

On Tuesday at 9:50 a.m., deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 1488 South Stateline Road regarding a person that had been shot, according to a press release from TCSO.
Once on scene deputies and other emergency personnel found a 47-year-old male that had a gunshot wound to the right chest area. While speaking with the male, he told the deputies that two unknown white males forcefully entered his residence, struck him in the back of the head with an unknown object and shot him in the chest.
According to the press release, the two males also took several items from a safe inside the home and fled the scene in a grey Corvette. The victim’s 2005 gold Jeep Rangler with tag number RIG3133 was also taken from the scene.
After a brief vehicle pursuit with the grey Corvette, Dusty Sivell, 23, was taken into custody. The Corvette was reported stolen from within the City of LaGrange, according to TCSO. TCSO was still looking for the Jeep as of Tuesday evening.
The suspect is described as a short, white male wearing dark coveralls.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a Columbus area hospital for treatment. Investigators contacted the GBI to assist in the processing of the crime scene.
