Mr. Jerry l. Boswell

LANETT — Mr. Jerry L. Boswell, 79, of Lanett, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at EEAMC-Lanier Hospital in Valley.

Mr. Boswell was born Jan. 8, 1940, in Coweta County, Georgia, son of the late George Stevenson Boswell and Evelyn Rooks Boswell. A resident of Coweta County most of his life, he was a retired plumber and electrician. He had lived in Lanett for more than 20 years and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He was a fervent believer of prayer in schools and in 2003 rode a horse to Washington, D.C. in one-man campaign to draw attention to that need. He made additional riding trips to Buffalo, New York, Indianapolis and Chattanooga, later writing a book about his experiences on these trips.

Survivors include his wife, Janett Boswell of Lanett; his children and their spouses, Len and Melissa Ann Boswell of Hogansville, Georgia, Leigh and Anthony King of Leslie, Georgia, Deborah and Greg Walker of Greenville, Georgia, and Alec Boswell of Moreland, Georgia; step-children Debra Presley of Valley; Donald Howard and Star Abbott of Eufaula; sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Wayne Smith of Newnan, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law Randy and Beatrice Boswell of Moreland, Georgia; 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 26 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley. Dr. Darren White and the Rev. Raymond Sorrells will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in the St. Marks community in Meriwether County at 3 p.m.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night and will again do so at the church from noon until 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
