Mr. John Edward “Nute” Williams

WEST POINT — Mr. John Edward “Nute” Williams Jr., 65, of West Point passed away March 8, 2019, at his residence. Mr. William was born November 23, 1953, in West Point to the parentage o the late John Edward Williams Sr. and the late Katherine “Kat” Morgan.
“Nute,” as he was known by many, received his education n the West Point Public School System, where he was a member of the West Point High School graduating class of 1972.
After high school, Nute worked many jobs. He was an employee of Langdale Mill and Skinner Furniture. Nute also worked for Mayor Steve Tramell and other families in the West Point area.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by grandmothers, Sally
Kate Williams and Ethel Hames; brothers, Milton Hairston, James Williams and Michael
Bailey and two sisters, Gail Williams and Louise Cabbell.
He leaves to cherish his memories: four sons, Christopher Stiggers, Atlanta, Tieko Williams, Lanett, Ala., Edward (Renea) Williams and Arsenio (Jabree) Williams, LaGrange.; two step-daughters, Kiwanya (Timothy) Heard, Augusta, and Latoya Mitchell, Hogansville; one step-son, Carlos Brock, Lanett; his stepmother, Thelma Williams, West Point; brothers Earnest (Jacquelyn) Jackson, Larry (Carolyn) Bailey Sr., West Point, and Arthur Charles (Waydean) Bailey, Sylacauga; a special niece and nephew, Debra Davidson and Victor Lipscomb; 26 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mr. Williams will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 2 p.m. EDT in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Lanett, with the Bishop Donald Lancaster, officiating.
