LANETT — The streak is still alive.
The Springwood soccer team improved to 4-0 after defeating Eastwood Christian 6-3 at home on Friday night.
“I’m extremely proud of them,” Springwood head soccer coach John Lanier said. “They’ve played really well, and fought really well. I’m always looking for ways to improve. Even though we’re 4-0, we didn’t play our best game. I think we can improve. It’s great to win, but we just want to keep getting better.”
Springwood junior Coleman Hull led the Wildcats again by scoring four goals, while Tyler Ly and Jonah Kelley scored the other two goals for Springwood.
Hull is now up to 13 goals on the season.
“He’s an amazing player,” Lanier said. “The guys around him are really helping him out, giving him good opportunities and he’s finishing them.”
Eastwood threatened a late comeback after cutting down Springwood’s deficit to two with 16:16 remaining before Hull sealed the victory with 11:18 to go.
“There were some opportunities that we missed where we could’ve cleared the ball out, or have done some things differently up top,” Lanier said. “I think we’ll look back, try to find those opportunities, learn from them and try to correct them for the next game.”
Communication was also listed as an area that Lanier said he wanted to see improvement in from his team.
The Wildcats travel to face Lyman Ward next Tuesday night. Springwood shut out Lyman Ward 9-0 earlier this week.
