Mr. Orlando Dwayne Cooper — 1962-2019

LANETT — Mr. Orlando Dewayne Cooper, 56, of Lanett, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Columbus Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Mr. Cooper was born Oct. 10, 1962, to the late George Eddie Cooper and the late Mary “Annie” Lois Cooper in Chambers County.
At an early age, Orlando attended Sunday school and church at the Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Lanett. He was a product of the Chambers County School District. He attended Valley Junior High School and Valley High School in Valley, where he played football and basketball. His school friends remember him as a “quiet, laid-back, cool guy with a friendly smile.” He was nicknamed Chicken- wang.
Orlando was preceded in death by grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Lucious (Charlie Bell) Jackson of Lanett, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland (Cosette) Cooper Sr. of Valley, and one sister, Miss Lana Loretta Cooper of Lanett.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted sister, Ms. Deborah Cooper Holliday of Columbus, Georgia; a brother, Mr. Eddie Mitchell Trammell of Lanett; two loving nephews, Mr. Derensky Cooper of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Mr. Jatorience Thornton, Columbus, Ohio; one niece, Miss Kamiah Trammell of Lanett; one loving uncle, Mr. Bobby (Christine) Jackson of Lanett; an aunt, Mrs. Marion Jackson of Lanett; a special cousin and caregiver, Ms. Cassandra Ingersoll of Phenix City, and a long host of other cousins, loved ones and friends.
A private memorial service for Mr. Cooper will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, for immediate family members.
