VALLEY — A local in-home health center was recognized as providing top-notch patient care in the Greater Valley Area by a national provider of in-home healthcare services.
East Alabama Medical Center-Lanier Home Health was given a 5-star rating in both quality and patient satisfaction by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’, according to a news release by the LHC Group.
The news release said a five-star rating is the highest rating possible in both categories.
EAMC-Lanier Home Health is home health partner of EAMC and is part of a partnership with the LHC Group, a national provider of in-home healthcare services with 32,000 employees operating locations in 35 states.
The star rating is issued quarterly and is seen as a key differentiator and indicator of overall quality and excellence in the home health industry.
Dedra Randall, executive director with EAMC-Lanier Home Health, said the ratings come from mailed surveys by patients when they are first admitted by the healthcare provided and when they are discharged.
“When you reach a five-star, it means we are really taking good care of our patients,” she said.
Patients are typically referred to Home Health by a physician, hospital or nursing home when they are ready to return to their home life but still need a few healthcare services.
Randall said Home Health travels to the patient’s home to provide those services. Services could include physical, occupational or speech therapies, among others, she said.
According to the LHC Group, home health care is an effective and affordable solution for many patients’ post-acute care needs and situations. Home health professionals treat a wide range of medical conditions, allowing patients to rest and recover in the comfort of home.
