Mr. Jill Jones

Mr. Jill Jones, 66, of West Point, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, Marietta. Mr. Jones was born Sept. 25, 1952, in West Point.

Jill attended the West Point Public School System and was a member of the Harrison High School Class of 1970. Jill was a member of the Yellow Jacket Marching Band, where he served as drum major. He enjoyed watching western movies. 

Mr. Jones was loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Anybody that truly knew him, knew that he was the life of any gathering and loved to make people laugh. He was employed with the West Point Housing Authority for 19 years as a dedicated maintenance man.

Jill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Hill and Mary L. Jones; two sisters, Shirley Ann Jones and Sue Ellen Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Geraldine Jones of West Point; his children, Mona (Larry) Green of Valley, Lakeisa Buckner of West Point, Demarcus Hutchinson of LaGrange, Lashonda Jones of Lanett, Felix (Shauntae) Trammell of Maryland, Francheska Penn of West Point, Tiffany (Earl) McCullough of Valley; one brother, Wayne (Ann) Jones of West Point; two sisters, Willie Lee Sambula and Theresa Davidson both of Lanett, AL; one aunt Ophelia Jones of West Point; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special friend, Alton “Snake” Scroggins,Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Jones will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. W. T. Edmondson, Pastor, Eulogist, the Rev. Dexter Foreman, Evang. Stephanie Davenport and the Rev. Jerome Spence, assisting. Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Sunday one hour prior to the service. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the M. W.
