Mrs. Lothair Allen

Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Lothair Allen, of Lanett, who died peacefully at home on June 21.

Funeral services are planned for June 24 at 3 p.m. EDT at the First Christian Church of Lanett with Reverend David Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. 

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. EDT until the funeral hour at the church.

Allen is survived by her daughter, Lana Allen Bass, of Lanett; granddaughters, Sumarie Bass Forrester (Keith), of Atlanta, and Amy Bass Britton (Bobby), of Lanett. Two great-grandchildren also survive her, Allen Britton and Davis Britton. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Allen is predeceased by her husband, Junior Leon Allen; two sisters, Hazel Weldon Wood and Jean Weldon Kirkland; one brother, Jack Weldon; her parents; her son in law, W. Marion Bass.

Allen was born March 4, 1921, in Lanett. She was raised in Lanett and was a lifelong member of First Christian Church where she was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and served as an Elder and on the church board.

Allen was a graduate of Lanett High School. She retired from West Point Pepperell’s Corporate Office, after having worked there for 36 years.

She was an active member of the West Point Pilot Club for over 20 years and served as Governor of the Georgia District of the organization.

Allen was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and spending time at the beach. She was a dedicated Braves baseball fan for most of her life.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to the First Christian Church of Lanett.
