VALLEY — The first Valley bench press competition was held this past weekend at the community center.
“The competition was great,” Valley fitness manager Torrance Rudd said. “We had it set up according to age groups from 21 to 80 years old.”
The first-place winner in the 21-30 age group was Zachery Garsee, who bench pressed 425 pounds. Bradley Wright was the first-place winner for the 31-40 group after bench pressing 425 pounds as well. Jason Sturges took home the title in the 41-50 category, bench pressing 400 pounds. Paul Stodghill won in the 51-60 category by bench pressing 265 pounds. George Tomlin bench pressed the most in the 61-70 group with 270 pounds. Jeff Page won in the 71-80 category after bench pressing 170 pounds.
Jaime Quinton won the 21-30 female category by bench pressing 75 pounds, while Lynda Fagan took home the honors in the 51-60 age group after bench pressing 60 pounds.
“It was a good crowd,” Rudd said. “We had a lot of people show up.”
The next fitness competition at the community center will be the deadlift competition on Aug. 3.
