Funeral services for Margaret Louise Earl Self, 93, of Roanoke, will be held on July 3 at 2 p.m. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rickey Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 2. Self will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday.
Self passed away on July 1 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Daugherty (husband, Billy) of Gadsden, Carol Mapp (husband, Gene) of Northport and Patricia McCard (husband, Gregory) of Blountville, Tennessee; two sons, Richard Allen Self (wife, Joanie) of Monroe, North Carolina and Reuben D. Self (wife, Jody) of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Self’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
A lifelong resident of Chambers County, Self was born on Feb. 20, 1926, the daughter of Shaffer and Ermer Lee Clack Earl. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and worked as the lunchroom manager of Rock Mills Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Reuben Allen Self.
