CUESSTA — A Florida woman called 911 Tuesday night after she escaped from an attempted abduction, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.
Major T.J. Wood said at about 10:40 p.m., a 25-year-old woman got into an argument with a family member at the Sunoco gas station at the Cusseta Travel Plaza just off exit 70 on Interstate 85.
Wood said as the argument escalated, the woman walked away and began traveling down County Road 388 on foot. While walking, Wood said the woman reported a white male driving a white SUV pulled beside her and began speaking to her. Eventually, the man, who was reportedly alone, got out of the SUV and tried to abduct her.
Wood said a struggle took place between the two, and she was able to get away and call 911, causing the man to take off.
The woman didn’t have much of a description of the man or vehicle other than he was white and driving a white SUV-style vehicle.
