VALLEY — A new feature film “Electric Jesus” plans to shoot a few scenes in Valley next week.
According to officials with the film, the production team will film a few scenes next week at The Skatin’ Rink in Valley. The rest of the film is being shot in Columbus.
“Electric Jesus” is set in the summer of 1986 in the southern portion of the United States. The film describes itself as a coming-of-age, music-comedy.
“While super-group Stryper found fame outside of Evangelical circles, dozens of “white metal” bands thrived within the wholesome Christian youth group culture of sprawling suburban America,” the film’s Facebook page says. “Electric Jesus is about one of those bands.”
The Skatin’ Rink declined to interview with the Valley Times-News or confirm the film is shooting on its premises.
However, the skating rink did confirm that nobody will be allowed on the property at all next week until the rink reopens Friday night.
At a news conference in Columbus Thursday, Wheel of Fortune game show co-host Vanna White, who is also an executive producer of “Electric Jesus,” announced that stars Judd Nelson and Brian Baumgartner have signed on for roles in the film.
Nelson is best known for portraying John Bender in “The Breakfast Club” and Baumgartner, played Kevin Malone in the hit television series “The Office.”
Producers of the film say it is scheduled to begin filming Aug. 20 in Columbus.
