VALLEY — A North Carolina motorcyclist was airlifted after an accident on Interstate 85 in Valley Sunday afternoon, according to the Valley Police Department.
Major Mike Reynolds said at about 3:45 p.m., three motorcyclists were riding together when one of the riders was separated from the group. The motorist attempted to catch up with the group when he noticed they were pulled over in the emergency lane waiting on him.
The motorcyclist then attempted to pull into the emergency lane but realized he was moving too fast to stop and struck one of the other riders.
Reynolds said the rider of the motorcycle that was struck was airlifted to the hospital but his injuries are unknown. He said the man struck was the only injury as a result of the incident.
