There have been, albeit minor, changes in a local team’s position in the post-week one Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA)’s prep poll. 

Chambers Academy (1-0) has moved up from the preseason AISA No. 6 spot to No. 4 after a dominant 36-7 win over Lee-Scott last Friday night. The Rebels ran throughout the night, racking up a total of 426 rushing yards. Senior Braxton Allen led all Chambers rushers with 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns on his own. The Rebels face a challenge this week against Tuscaloosa Academy, a team that received votes in this week’s rankings.

The Lanett Panthers (1-0) have stayed pat at the No. 5 spot for 1A programs after pulling off 25-21 victory at 5A Valley last week. Standout performers included juniors Trey Abner and Kadarius Zachery as well as senior Kristian Story. All three of the aforementioned players had an interception, with Zachery grabbing the one to seal the victory. Like Chambers Academy, Lanett will also host a team that received votes in this week’s rankings, as the crosstown rival LaFayette Bulldogs face the Panthers on Friday night.
