The Rebels of Chambers Academy have inched closer to being the top-ranked team in all of AISA football.

In the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) prep poll, the defending AISA A state champions have moved up from being ranked No. 4 to No. 3 this week. Last Friday night, Chambers Academy (4-0) defeated Cornerstone Christian 59-14. Senior running back Braxton Allen found the end zone three times in the victory, while junior quarterback Payton Allen threw for 219 yards. Senior Caydon Smoot led Rebel receivers with 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Chambers Academy travels to Greensboro this week for the first road game of the season against AISA No. 9 Southern Academy (3-0).

The Lanett Panthers (4-0) stand pat this week as the No. 5 team in 1A football after defeating Autaugaville 54-6 last Friday night. Lanett’s defense and offense shined in the showing, with an acrobatic touchdown throw from senior quarterback Kristian Story to junior wide receiver Tae Hurston in addition to a scoop-and-score from sophomore linebacker Dai’Shun Walker. Lanett returns home this week for homecoming against region-opponent Notasulga.
