A Lanett man was arrested Wednesday by the Lanett Police Department for failing to pull over for police on Tuesday, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department.
William Lamar Yarbrough, 41, was taken into custody Wednesday after the police spent several hours searching for him.
According to police, after refusing to comply with a traffic stop, he led officers on a chase. During that chase, police set spike strips on the road causing Yarbrough to wreck his vehicle. After the accident, Yarbrough ran into the woods Tuesday night and remained a fugitive until Wednesday afternoon when he was found in Lanett by the Lanett Police Department.
According to the sheriff’s office, narcotics were found in Yarbrough’s vehicle.
As of Thursday morning, Yarbrough is charged with attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
