OUR VIEW: City of Valley pay raise well-deserved

City of Valley full-time employees recently received a 3-percent raise in the form of a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
The pay increase becomes effective with the December payroll.
More times than not, it’s great news whenever anyone receives a pay raise. Especially at an amount that won’t break the bank for the city’s taxpayers.
The improvements that have been made in the city of Valley in the past couple of years have been commendable, and it’s even more commendable that they’re being compensated for that.
Many of these men and women getting the raise aren’t the ones that are featured in the pages of our newspaper either. They are the ones behind the scenes making sure the city keeps running smoothly.
Most of them don’t want to be recognized either. They want to do their jobs, which is making life a little easier for Valley residents, and then get home to spend time with their families and enjoying the things they love.
Everybody likes to be recognized for their hard work and typically the best recognition comes in the form of a few extra dollars on the paycheck. Hopefully, this recent cost-of-living adjustment will encourage those employees to keep working hard to make sure everybody in Valley doesn’t have to worry about anything.
