A man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 50 across from Resthaven Memorial Gardens, according to Lanett Fire & EMS Chief Johnny Allen.

According to officers on the scene, a vehicle with a Georgia tag was heading toward LaFayette and struck a vehicle heading east toward the Valley.

The Georgia vehicle ran off the road and overturned in someone’s front yard. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased on the scene by Chambers County Coroner Jeff Jones.

The driver of the east-bound vehicle was uninjured and their vehicle only slightly damaged.

Lanett police, Huguley Fire, Lanett EMS and Alabama State Troopers worked the accident scene.
