Week 4: Let the games continue

There’s another full slate of local high school football this week in the Greater Valley Area.
Tonight’s schedule includes four home games, and two teams beginning region play.
Beulah (2-1, 0-1) is on the road at Prattville Christian. The Bobcats are coming off of a 46-18 loss to Montgomery Academy last week. Sondreikus Cooper led the team with 66 rushing yards and a touchdown in the effort. Prattville (0-2) is coming off of a 48-10 loss to Pike Road.
In 2018, Beulah defeated Prattville Christian 27-7 on homecoming night. The Bobcats were without starting full back Caden Dowdell in the matchup, and senior quarterback Lonzie Portis stepped up in his absence, finishing with 151 rushing yards on 12 carries. Then-junior running back Chris Person had 64 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
AISA No. 4 Chambers Academy (3-0) is wrapping up its season-opening homestand tonight against Cornerstone Christian. The Rebels are coming off of a 45-20 win over Abbeville Christian in a second-half surge led by junior quarterback Payton Allen, who finished the game with three rushing touchdowns and 227 total rushing yards. In 2018, Chambers Academy defeated Cornerstone 57-7. Tonight marks the first region game of the year for the Rebels.
LaFayette (1-1, 1-0) hosts Thorsby tonight for another region game. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 45-20 win over Vincent last week. Big plays were the key in the win, highlighted by a 96-yard interception touchdown return by Xavier Holloway. Thorsby (2-1) is coming off of a 38-0 win over Horseshoe Bend. In 2018, LaFayette lost to Thorsby 18-14.
1A No. 5 Lanett (3-0, 1-0) hosts its second region opponent of the season with Autagauville. The Panthers are coming off of a 14-13 win over Wadley, a strong defensive effort led by the senior trio of Eric McCants, B.J. Smith and Kristian Story. Autaugaville (0-2) is coming off of a 36-0 loss against Notasulga. In 2018, Lanett shut Autaugaville out 48-0.
Springwood (2-1) remains on the road to face Edgewood in the Wildcats first region game of the season. Springwood is coming off of a 31-17 loss against Lowndes Academy, a game that the Wildcats led 17-13 at the half. Edgewood (3-0) is coming off of a 41-7 win over Lee-Scott Academy. In 2018, Springwood lost 44-13 to Edgewood.
Valley (1-2, 1-0) hosts Greenville tonight. The Rams are coming off their first win this season at Beauregard in a 27-0 decision. Valley sophomore K.D. Hutchinson has scored in every game so far this season. Greenville (2-1) is coming off of a 33-7 win over Tallassee. In 2018, Greenville beat Valley 14-7.
