MONTGOMERY — Every time Chambers Academy found itself in the end zone in Thursday night’s 48-12 win at Success Unlimited, there was little to no celebration that was shown, only a handoff to the nearest official and a trip back to the huddle.
“It was a very business-like game,” Chambers Academy head football coach Jason Allen said. “Our seniors led us well and they took control of the game.”
AISA No. 3-ranked Chambers Academy (7-0, 2-0) capitalized on Success Unlimited’s early turnovers and took a 35-0 lead into halftime.
Junior quarterback Payton Allen completed 4-of-10 pass attempts for 38 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Braxton Allen led all rushers with 110 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Jordan Benbrook had over 100 yards as well, finishing with 101 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns. Cade Tarver finished with 66 rushing yards. Senior Caydon Smoot had three receptions for 31 yards and two touchdowns in the contest.
Defensively, Trent Thompson led the Rebels with six tackles, while Braxton Allen finished with five tackles.
Chambers Academy will end its four-game road trip next week at region-opponent Pickens (2-3). With a win next week and on Oct. 18 against Meadowview, the Rebels will clinch another region championship, playing every postseason game at home until the state championship at Troy University.
