A week after earning its first No. 1 ranking in program history, Chambers Academy (9-1, 4-0) slid down in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association after suffering a 42-20 loss to Bessemer (8-3).
The game moved Bessemer up from No. 5 to No. 3, and the Rebels down to No.5, the team’s lowest ranking since being ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll.
Lanett remains at No. 3 in 1A rankings after completing its undefeated season with a 56-0 win over Billingsley.
