Lanett City Schools to launch new website

LANETT — Lanett City Schools will soon launch a new website for the district, according to Superintendent Jennifer Boyd.
The school district’s website was down intermittently Wednesday afternoon as the website design company SchoolinSites performed construction on the new page. The school district still had internal access to the website.
Boyd said the new website has been in the works for some time, and it will create a new look and feel for students, parents and teachers. Currently, Boyd said the district is gathering content to place on the new website.
“It will have a clean, fresh feel,” Boyd said. “It will have different colors, more pictures and be more user-friendly.”
The user-friendly aspect is one of the more important aspects to Boyd, saying that parents and people in the community need to be able to find the information they are looking for without a struggle.
“I want it to be something parents visit on a regular basis,” Boyd said. “If parents want to log in and check their student’s grades, I want that to happen quickly.”
A new website is one of Boyd’s pet projects she wanted to implement after she was appointed superintendent in July. Additionally, Lanett Technology Coordinator Whittany Nolen has also been leading the charge with the website transition. Boyd said there’s nothing wrong with the current website, but she’s always looking for places where the district can be improved.
The initial launch date for the new website was scheduled to happen before the winter break. However, due to a security breach in September prompting the district to shut down all its servers for a couple weeks, the launch date has now been moved back to around the new year.
