LANETT — The Lanett City Schools Board of Education took time this past Monday to thank those who shape the minds of the next generation inside the classroom.
The board honored three teachers Monday night — one from each school in the district.
For W.O. Lance Elementary School, which teaches kindergarten through sixth grade, the school system chose Meagan Potts as the teacher of the year. According to the elementary school’s website, Potts is the school psychometrist and learning specialist.
At Lanett Junior High, which is responsible for the seventh and eighth graders, Justin Gagnon was chosen by the board of education. Gagnon is the middle school’s physical education instructor.
At Lanett High School, William Tidmore, a science instructor was named the teacher of the year for 2019.
Each of the recipients were thanked at the most recent board meeting and given a plaque from the school system.
