Gloria Jo “GoGo” Watson, 71, a long-time resident of West Point, died Jan. 4, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.
GoGo was born to Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Ellis Watson on Sept. 21, 1948, and grew up in Luverne. She is survived by her son and her daughter-in-law, Watson and Raven Nichols; grandchildren, Sailor and Jack Nichols; sisters, Jane Lamb and Sylvia Kicklighter; and her closest friend, Harriet Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joe Watson.
GoGo was a member of West Point First United Methodist Church. She was the general manager of Riverside Country Club in Lanett, for more than 25 years. She was an ardent fan of Auburn Tigers football.
A memorial service was held on Monday evening, Jan. 6, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The family received friends from 6:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home. Following the service friends gathered at American SmokeHouse in West Point to continue the celebration of GoGo’s life. Auburn Football game day attire was requested.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels America or your local Meals on Wheels organization.
