VALLEY — The Valley Police Department is looking for a person or persons who stole 52 cell phones valued at $50,000 from Valley Walmart at approximately 7 a.m. on Saturday. Police Chief Tommy Weldon talked about the incident at Monday’s meeting of the Valley City Council.
Weldon said they had plenty of video on the incident and up to three suspects might be involved.
“We think there was an inside connection to what happened,” Weldon told the council. “Hopefully we can identify suspects from the video.”
Security cameras showed a black male and a black female entering the store and going directly to the electronics department.
The cell phones were taken from drawers in the electronics area and placed inside the box for a child’s car seat and backpack. They then went to the self-checkout where they scanned the box, paid cash and left the store.
The female suspect is described as wearing a green hat, black shirt, black pants, and white shoes. The male was wearing a black hat, dark jacket, dark pants, and a pink shirt.
If anyone has any information concerning this theft please call the Valley Police Department at 334-756-5200 or the Valley Area Crime Stoppers at 334-756-8200.
