During this pandemic, we have seen the Chambers County community band together in more ways than one to help each other  out.

From organizations like the Christian Service Center to local restaurants that have donatedfood, many have given back. Schools have made sure students are fed and restaurants are giving back to medical staffs.

We’ve seen local grocery stores bring lunches and snacks to EMS staff across the county and the Sign Gypsies surprise local medical staffs with a sign in front of EAMC-Lanier.

Even in these uncertain times, this community is doing its part to show what being a community is all about.

On Friday, we reported a story about how Quilts of Valor is taking the time to sew and create masks for medical staff at the request of East Alabama Medical Center.

Jackson Services, based in LaGrange, donated one of their climate controlled tents to EAMC-Lanier to assist them with COVID-19 testing. Allowing them to screen people in a air conditioning environment will prove critical as the weather begins to heat up.

Just over the state line, Long Cane Elementary faculty hopped in their cars for a 2 hour journey throughout their district to wave to their students who will be out of school due to the outbreak until at least April 27.

In Lee County, a viral video surfaced of people in their cars and first responders piling into the EAMC parking area flashing lights as a way to tell COVID-19 patients the world has not stopped thinking about them.

It is extremely heartwarming to see our community and the communities around us do what they can to uplift spirits, help others and pull together as one.

It is important during times like to this to have a unified front across the county.

While logistically we may not have been ready for a health crisis, our hearts are very much prepared to spread the love that needs to be spread and we will not back down.

We are proud that this and the surrounding communities, churches, government and businesses are putting aside all their differences to help each otherduring a pandemic.
