Troup County was named Large Business of the Year Tuesday morning by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce.
For the past 11 years, the chamber has awarded a large business in the county with the award.
“Large businesses are an important part of our community in which they do business,” Chamber Board Vice Chairman Dale Jackson said. “Aside from the fact that they are job creators, large businesses are very involved in the community. They sponsor little league teams, donate to the city’s community, they join the chamber of commerce, participate in community charity events and contribute to local nonprofit organizations.”
The Troup County Government is one of the largest employers in the county. According to Jackson, Troup County has an economic impact of $61 million dollars.
“While it is often said that small businesses are the lifeblood of a community, large businesses can also be considered the heartbeat,” Jackson said. “That is an exact description of this year’s award winner.”
Troup County Government provides more than 500 jobs within its sector, according to Jackson.
“In honor of their presence in our community … the work ethic they expound, the corporate citizenship they exhibit shown by many local state and regional awards and the high-quality service they deliver, the LaGrange-Troup Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the award to the Troup County Government,” Jackson said.
According to George Bailey, chamber chair, the award was chosen by a selection committee that evaluated business planning processes and execution strategies, business results, future goals and more.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be awarded the 2020 Large Business of the Year Award. Troup County is in the business of serving the public and to be recognized is greatly appreciated,” Commission Chairman Patrick Crews said. “We are honored that the community puts their trust in us to manage the day-to-day affairs of the county, and it is our great pleasure to serve the citizens of Troup County.”
