VALLEY — A Valley teen died of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle traffic accident Friday afternoon at the Moore’s Creek bridge on Highway 29.
Jacob Ryan Crowe, 17, was heading south on the four-lane when he apparently lost control of the car, veered right off the highway, striking the bridge’s concrete abutment. The force of collision snapped the yellow and black bridge alert sign on the north side of the bridge. The diagonally striped sign came to rest on the creek bank underneath the bridge.
Crowe was treated on the scene by East Alabama paramedics and taken to the emergency room at EAMC-Lanier Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident took place a few minutes before 1 p.m. EST.
According to Chambers County Coroner Jeff Jones, Crowe formerly attended Chambers Academy.
