A worker for Diversicare of Lanett tested positive for COVID-19. According to a statement from Diversicare, the worker was not a direct caregiver to residents or patients.
“We have been in touch with the Alabama Department of Health, as well as officials at the CDC,” the release said. “We are working closely with public health officials to address the situation and are grateful for their assistance. We have been in touch with the loved ones of all those who have been impacted and will continue to do so on a regular basis.”
The statement also said that strict visitation limitations implemented by the CDC will continue to be in place, meaning visitors and nonessential personnel are not allowed into the facility. Residents are still able to talk to family and friends via phone, text and video chat.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure the stop of the spread within our center and community,” the release said. “During any emergency situation such as this one, the safety of our patients and residents are our top priority.”
The Diversicare of Lanett is the only facility in the state that has a positive test for COVID-19 as of Thursday. Two facilities in Mississippi and one in Indiana have also been affected, totaling four of the 62 facilities in the country.
Diversicare has two phone numbers for any questions regarding COVID-19. The local number is (334) 644-1111, while the toll-free number is 1-888-508-9774.
