Mr. George Greenwood Jr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at his home in Lewisville, North Carolina. He was born in Lanett, on May 1, 1927, the second son of seven children of the late Alma Wilkerson Greenwood and George Greenwood Sr.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Greenwood, Ruby Morgan, Doris Patterson and Annie Carson; a brother, Frank Greenwood; a niece, Vendi Rei Henderson; and two nephews, Lonnie Morgan, Jr. and Leon Morgan.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and united with the Goodsell United Methodist Church becoming a lifetime member. He graduated from Lanier High School and shortly thereafter was inducted into the United States Army during World War II. He received an honorable discharge upon separation.

Mr. Greenwood is the father of three children, daughter, Pamela Michelle Greenwood of Lewisville, North Carolina, son, Ricardo Greenwood of New York, New York and adopted daughter, Jacquelyne Collins of Richton Park, Illinois.

He was addressed affectionately known in the community as “Greenwood or Wolf” because of his effusive personality.

Those left with happy memories and expectations of meeting again include his beloved Pamela; son, Ricardo; adopted daughter, Jacquelyne; one sister, Americus Gwendolyn Murphy, Southfield, Michigan; nieces and nephews, Luanne Hawkins, Detroit, Sandrae Patterson, Dayton, Ohio, Andrae (Vera) Patterson, Trotwood, Ohio, Lonnie (Angela) Morgan III, Montgomery and Jessica Morgan, Lanett; and a special niece-in-law Phyllis Morgan, Lanett. He was loved and will be missed by a host of extended relatives, friends, and caregivers.

Due to current social gathering restrictions, a private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett at noon EST with the Rev. Billy Drake officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made in Mr. Greenwood’s memory to: Goodsell United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1006 Sixth Avenue, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
