VALLEY — A long-time continuing tradition in the City of Valley, a Fourth of July fireworks show, is still scheduled to take place this year.

It will get underway at darkness on Saturday, July 4, at the Sportsplex.

“We think it will be safe if people stay in or near their vehicles and not get out and do a lot of mingling with others,” said Valley Parks and Recreation Director Laurie Blount. “That’s what people normally do anyway. We just need to keep it to small groups.”

In past years, it’s usually the weather that leads to uncertainty regarding the fireworks show.

One year a prolonged drought increased danger of setting a forest fire across the river from the airport site, causing the show’s cancelation.

At this time, there are not any other events planned for the Fourth. Usually, there are events that go along with the fireworks, like allowing children to swim in the Valley Community Center for free, children’s games around the Sportsplex among others.
