During its Monday meeting, the city of West Point announced its new city attorney.

Alex Dixon was unanimously approved to replace Jeff Todd as the city attorney for West Point effective July 1. He is replacing Jeff Todd.

“We’re excited to get to work with him,” West Point Mayor Steve Tramell said.

Dixon has been practicing law since 1994. He started at Lewis, Taylor, Todd and Dixon Law Firm, which is where Todd is a partner. He was there until 2005 when he started Alex L. Dixon P.C., which is based in LaGrange. He also serves on the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 11 Circuit.

Dixon will wear several hats in Troup County, as he will also be the city attorney for Hogansville. He will also continue as the solicitor for both LaGrange and Hogansville.
