Springwood came out shorthanded on Saturday morning and completely dominated Trinity Christian at home 67-45.
The Wildcats were in control of the game from the opening tipoff and took a 12-point lead into the second period. Springwood just built on the lead from that point and never trailed in the contest.
It was the Daniel Westbrook show in the first half for the Wildcats. Westbrook came out firing and scored 23 points in the first two periods. Westbrook finished the game with 31 points to go along with seven rebounds, five steals and one block.
Micah Thomas found his groove in the second half, scoring 11 points in the final two frames. Thomas finished with 18 points, four rebounds, four steals and one block.
The Wildcats were shorthanded on Saturday as CJ Johnson and Greg Johnson missed the game to compete in the All-American Bowl in Gatlinburg.
With those two absent from the starting lineup, Jonathan Hinton and Aidan Carey were inserted into the starting five. Hinton finished the game with four points, five rebounds and two steals. Carey was a staple on the defensive side, finishing with two blocks, one steal, two rebounds and two points.
Since entering the starting lineup, Crawford Fuller has been a pivotal player for Springwood. Fuller finished Saturday’s game with eight points, 12 rebounds and three steals.
The win over Trinity Christian pushed Springwood’s winning streak to nine games. The Wildcats are currently 11-1 on the season. Springwood has a short break ahead before the team travels to compete in a tournament hosted by Lakeside on Dec. 28.
