We gather here today to celebrate the life and legacy of a man whose laughter and love echoed through the hearts of all who knew him, Brother Clarence Booker. Born on the 25th of May 1933, in the humble town of Smiths Station, Alabama, Clarence was a towering man of joy and kindness throughout his 90 years on this Earth. On the 20th of December 2023, in the peaceful town of Lanett, Alabama, Clarence was called home by the Lord, leaving this world as he lived in it, with grace and surrounded by love, succumbing to the natural passage of time.
Clarence was a man of the soil and the water, finding solace in the rhythm of the garden and the gentle tug of a fish on the line. His hands, though weathered from work, were always extended in friendship and aid. He was the founder and dedicated operator of Booker Septic Tank Service for over six decades, a testament to his unwavering commitment to a job well done. Clarence‘s work ethic was not merely a trait but a testament to his character, ensuring every task was completed with precision and integrity.
His life was a tapestry woven with the threads of humor, kindness, and a spirit that could not be dampened. Clarence was a man who loved to share a good joke, his laughter a familiar and comforting melody to those around him. He was a devoted member of Shawmut Nazarene, where he cherished his church family as much as they cherished him. Clarence‘s passion for the Atlanta Braves was only matched by his love for his community and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
Clarence leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, carried on by his beloved niece, Linda Prather, and her husband, Don; his nephew, Steve Booker, with his wife, Brenda; his very special friend, Faye Adcock; his very close nephew, Josh Booker; and his very close first cousin, Raymond Sorrells. His life was enriched by the presence of numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Clarence now joins his beloved wife, Ethelene Sara Booker, his parents, Lynn Booker and Anna Lou Brewer Booker, and his siblings, William Booker, Yvonne Strickland, and Marie Morgan, in the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. EST at the Shawmut Nazarene Church in Valley with interment following in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Lanett, Alabama.
