It was senior night for the Lady Rams, and Valley refused to send the seniors out on a sour note as the team cruised to a 53-38 win over Tallassee.
After one period, the Rams found themselves with a four-point lead. Valley stretched that lead out to ten in the second period thanks to a dominant period from Kayden Dooley. Dooley scored 10 points in the second frame.
The Tigers kept battling, but Tallassee was continually stifled by Valley’s defensive pressure. Senior Aniyah Robinson anchored Valley’s defense as she put on a show with 10 rebounds, two steals and one block to go along with 17 points.
Robinson acted as one of the Rams’ most important leaders this season, being just one of two seniors on the team. It had already been a big season for the Lady Rams as they clinched the top seed in the area prior to the matchup with Tallassee.
Dooley led the way for Valley with 27 points and five rebounds. As a freshman, Dooley has stepped up to be one of the best point guards in the county.
The win on senior night pushed Valley’s record to 7-6 on the season and 4-0 in area play. First-year head coach Eberne Myrthil has a lot to be excited about as his youthful team looks to make a run in the postseason.
Up next for the Lady Rams is a matchup at home against Russell County on Thursday.
