The Lady Panthers outlasted LaFayette on Friday as Lanett beat its rivals 43-28 on the road.
The second period made the difference in the game. After one period, the Panthers held a nine-point lead, but then Lanett’s defense began to impose its will on the Bulldogs.
The Panthers outscored LaFayette 10-0 in the second period to push their lead to 25-6 at halftime.
From there, neither offense could really find its footing. The Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 10-8 in the third period. LaFayette found momentum on offense in the fourth period, outscoring Lanett 14-8 in the period, but the deficit was too wide at that point.
Laila Lancaster led the way for Lanett with nine points in the game. MaKiah White finished with seven points. Armani Langdon finished with eight points, six coming in the second half.
Andereka Williams led the way for the Bulldogs, scoring 12 points in the game. All of Williams’ points came from behind the arc.
The win on Friday pushed Lanett’s record to 13-4 on the season. The Lady Panthers host Callaway on Saturday. The Bulldogs face Horseshoe Bend on Jan. 22.
