Ray Tucker

 Ray Tucker, 93, died February 17, 2024, at the home of his eldest son, Tommy, in North Palm Beach, Florida. The Fairfax, Alabama, native was born in a four-room mill village house on Sears Street on January 10, 1931.

     The 1949 Valley High School graduate married Charlotte Laverne Brazeal of Fairfax in 1950. Ray served in the US Army as a radio technician in Alamogordo, New Mexico, from 1952 to 1954. He then returned to the Valley and was employed by West Point Manufacturing as an electronic technician and retired as a supervisor there in 1986. In 1968, Ray founded “RaLarms”, which continues as a successful burglar and fire protection provider. He retired from RaLarms in 2007.

     Ray served a variety of offices in several local churches, including Plant City United Methodist, Lanett First Christian, and Lanett First United Methodist. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator, camping with the Valley Vagabonds Camping Club where he and Charlotte were charter members, and serving his Lord by playing his electronic key board and singing excellent gospel songs. HIs musical talents were a blessing to many.

      He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Charlotte; sons Tommy (Pilar) of North Palm Beach, FL and Joel (Nancy) of Guyton, GA; and daughter Peggie Nelson of Guyton, GA; grandchildren – Samantha Mirabal( Erich), Jason Tucker, Stefanie Crain (Richard), Traci Mondry (Stephen), Cody Nelson, and Suzanne Nelson; and great[1]grandchildren – Tommy Tucker, Ethan Mirabal, Aiden Mirabal, Elena Mirabal, Logan Mondry, Leila Mondry, and Abigail Crain. He was a precious uncle to many nieces and nephews.

     Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Bama Hall Tucker; his father, Rev. William R. Tucker, and his brother, William Lee Tucker (Sue).

     Ray will be remembered on Thursday, February 22, at First United Methodist Church in Lanett, AL. Visitation will be at 11 am. The service will be presided over by Rev. Donnie Erwin-Brown at 12 noon with a graveside service following at Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery.

     To honor Ray, the family requests donations to the Interfaith Food Closet, P.O. Box 541, Lanett, AL. 36863 (334-756-3443) in lieu of flowers. This nonprofit organization provides food for those in need, serving Chambers County, AL, and the city of West Point, GA
