The Reed Foundation recently announced their 2024 scholarship recipients, who will be honored at the Reed Foundation annual community gala in May.
Each year, three students in the county are recommended by their guidance counselors for the local scholarship. The scholarships are the Beulah Carlisle Memorial Scholarship for $1,500 and two Reed Foundation Book Scholarships for $750 each.
Beulah Carlisle is the great-grandmother of Cameron Reed, the founder of the Reed Foundation.
The students chosen are LaFayette High senior Joy Robinson, Valley High senior Bailey Haney and Lanett High senior LeFranco Bridges.
The third annual gala will be held May 4 at the Valley Community Center. Key speakers include Johnny’s Pizza owner Ben Hamilton, Knox Tire owner Kenny Knox, Valley Police Lt. Sandra Crim and Elder Robert L. Brock Jr.
Entertainment for the event will be Frankie & Friends.
The Reed Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Lanett native Cameron Reed, has the mission of bringing resources and support to community youth and senior citizens. After graduating from Lanett High School, he went on to become the Equipment Administrative Assistant for the Chicago Bears.
